LYNCHBURG, VA - Shenandoah Women's Tennis competed in the four-team Randolph WildCat Invitational on Saturday. The Hornets took 8 wins out of their 16 total matches, competing against Randolph, Bridgewater, and Pfeiffer.
Doubles
During the first rotation, the Hornets all played pairs from Pfeiffer.
Kendra Gillette and
Leigha Montrief took the only win of the three, defeating Germain/Gatz, 6-4.
The second round saw the opposite happen, with
Olivia Guzzo and
Atlee Hilliard claiming victory over Isley/Cohen of Pfeiffer, 7-5.
Samantha Calvert and
Erin Talko also took the win over Germain/Gatz, 6-3.
Singles
The singles rounds saw 5 of the Hornets' 6 playing, as
Erin Talko did not participate.
Olivia Guzzo fell in her first match to Ingenito (Pfeiffer), 6-4 6-4. She would walkover her second match.
Atlee Hilliard dominated her pair of matches, beating Cohen (Pfeiffer), 6-1 6-0, and Spangler (Pfeiffer), 6-1 6-1.
Samantha Calvert also won both of her matches, the first over Germain (Pfeiffer), 6-4, 7-5, and the second over Thompson (Randolph), 6-0 6-0.
Kendra Gillette struggled on the day, falling to Slagle (Bridgewater), 1-6 2-6, and Colie (Pfeiffer), 2-6 2-6.
Leigha Montrief split her matches on the day, falling to Furr (Pfeiffer), 6-2 2-6 0-1 (4-10), then winning over Gatz (Pfeiffer), 6-4 7-5.
