Women's Lacrosse Dominates in ODAC Opener

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team opened ODAC play in dominant fashion on Saturday afternoon, defeating Guilford College 23–3 on the road.

Eight players recorded multi-goal performances for Shenandoah (4–3, 1–0 ODAC), with Ainsley Buckner leading the way with four goals. Buckner also set a new program record for draw controls in a single game, securing 19 in the victory over the Quakers (2–6, 0–2 ODAC).

Shenandoah wasted no time getting on the board, as Alex Ripkin secured the opening draw control, leading to quick goals from Buckner and Amy Bell in the first two minutes. Just over three minutes later, Ripkin found the back of the net, extending SU's early lead to 3–0.

Goalkeeper Madison Perry made a key save late in the first quarter, setting up Sarah Karlinchak's first goal of the season. Buckner won the ensuing draw control, allowing Karlinchak to assist Addison Harmel for another Shenandoah goal, making it 5–0.

Ayla Jantz added another goal before Guilford got on the board, as Shenandoah led 6–1 at the end of the first quarter.

Early in the second, a failed Guilford clear resulted in a goal by Kaitlin Clements, assisted by Ripkin, pushing SU's lead back to six. Following a Quakers goal, Ripkin and Clements quickly responded, making it 9–2. Jaelyn Hawes and Harmel then extended the lead to nine with 7:40 remaining in the half.

Shenandoah closed the second quarter on a dominant run, with goals from Haley Sullivan, Bell, Ripkin, and Buckner pushing the lead to 15–2 at halftime.

Buckner added two more goals in the third quarter, while Guilford tallied its final goal of the contest. Hawes scored on a free-position attempt, and Alyssa Webster netted her first career goal, giving the visitors a commanding 19–3 lead entering the fourth.

Webster struck again to open the final quarter, while Agata Gullace converted a free-position attempt for her first career goal. Emily Ransom and Sullivan capped off the scoring, sealing the 23–3 victory.

Buckner, Ripkin, Webster, and Karlinchak each finished with four points. Kate Vendemia joined Webster and Karlinchak in recording multiple assists.

Goalkeepers Perry, Jordan Higgins, and Maddie Gaboury all saw action in the win, with Higgins earning the victory.

Shenandoah returns home to face SUNY Geneseo in non-conference action on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
