HOW IT HAPPENED

Roanoke took control early, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter. Shenandoah responded by forcing a turnover and successfully clearing the ball, setting up its first goal of the contest. Clark Harrity fired a shot past the Roanoke goalkeeper to put the Hornets on the board. The Maroons added another goal late in the quarter, taking a 6-1 lead into the second.

In the second quarter, Roanoke continued its offensive push, scoring three early goals to extend the lead to 9-1. On the ensuing face off, Snead won possession for the Hornets, leading to a quick shot from Taylor. After Taylor's shot was saved, Matt Daniel secured the rebound, keeping the offensive pressure alive. Bakhsh then drew a penalty, giving Shenandoah a man-up opportunity. The Hornets capitalized as Bakhsh rifled a shot past the keeper, making it a 9-2 game. However, Roanoke responded with three additional goals, taking a commanding 12-2 lead into halftime.

Following the break, Roanoke extended its lead with two more goals before Shenandoah struck again on another extra-man opportunity. After a penalty reset, Cody Griffis fired a shot that was saved, but Taylor was there to collect the rebound and score off an assist from Green. Roanoke added three more goals in the quarter, widening its advantage to 17-3 heading into the final frame.

In the fourth quarter, Bakhsh found the back of the net once more to cap Shenandoah's scoring. Meanwhile, Feldman and Dwyer split time in goal to close out the contest.
