In the first inning, a dropped foul ball by the Hornets kept the inning alive for the visitors, allowing Ferrum to take a 1-0 lead on a single to center. In the bottom of the inning, Snyder hit a deep double to left center that scored Watkins, tying the game. However, Ferrum took the lead once again in the second on an infield single with two outs.

In the bottom of the third, Allison McQueeney hit a lead-off double, and Snyder picked up her second hit of the afternoon, putting two on board with one out. Sarah Medellin tied the game at two, scoring McQueeney on a sacrifice fly to center field.

The next inning, Shenandoah took full control, scoring three runs. The first run came across the plate on an RBI single by McQueeney. Two batters later, Snyder drove a ball to right field, clearing the bases and putting SU up 5-2 with a two-RBI triple.

McQueeney drove in the final run of the game on a fielder's choice, which scored Lexie Reid.

Cadence Rieg, who entered the circle in the third, allowed just one hit in the final two frames. The first-year forced a double play to end the sixth and worked around an error, two wild pitches, and a walk to seal the win in the seventh.
