VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Shenandoah University softball team was swept by No. 5 Virginia Wesleyan University on the road on Saturday in an ODAC doubleheader.

The Marlins (24-1-1, 10-0 ODAC) defeated the Hornets (10-14, 4-6) 9-1 in game one and 12-0 in game two.

GAME ONE RECAP

Allison McQueeney led off the game with a walk and came around to score to put Shenandoah up 1-0 in the first. McQueeney was set up in scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by Danielle McNeill, pushing her to second, before eventually stealing third.

Virginia Wesleyan tied the game at the end of the first on two walks and three stolen bases. The game remained tied until the Marlins added a pair of runs in the third on a double to center field.

The home team added six runs in the fourth on a hit, five walks, and an error. Virginia Wesleyan retired three of the four batters in the top of the fifth to seal the win.

Virginia Wesley had nine stolen bases in the game and drew nine walks.

McQueeney, Makayla Cox, and Rachael Blumenschine each earned a hit, with Blumenschine getting the lone extra base knock for the Hornets.
