Cross Country Begins 2025 Season at Bridgewater Meet

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Sheandoah University men's and women's cross country teams hit the ground running for the 2025 season at the Eagle Cross Country Challenge, hosted by Bridgewater College on Friday night.

The Hornets' women's team finished third in their 4k race while the men ran a 6k and placed fifth.

Kailey Lamont crossed the line first for Shenandoah, finishing 14th and scoring 11th, with a time of 16:15.4. Maddy Chorney finished a few spots behind Lamont with a mark of 16:30.1. Amy Oleksy rounded out the top three for the SU women with a showing of 16:54.0.

Emilie Gaudron, racing in her first college event, wrapped up next for SU, finishing at 17:03.2, while sophomore Grace Semow came in right behind the first-year with a time of 17:10.3. 

For the men, Kyle Corpin had the best time for Shenandoah at 22:04.1. Zack Hamacher, Brayden Shotwell, and Will Ashley crossed the finish line one in front of the other, finishing between 22:06.8 and 22:10.2.

Isaac Clarke earned the final team points for Shenandoah in the 6k, scoring 27 points with his time of 22:13.2. Corey Christensen and Ethan Beaugez crossed the finish line in the two spots directly behind Clarke.

Shenandoah heads to Shippensburg University next Friday for the Glen Piper Invite.
