Men's Golf Eighth After Day One of Season-Opening Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Shenandoah University men's golf team opened its 2025–26 fall season Saturday with the first two rounds of the Transylvania Fall Invitational at the University Club of Kentucky.

First-year Braden Hermansky sits in fifth place at even par after carding a one-over 73 in round one and a one-under 71 in round two on the par-72, 6,926-yard course. As a team, the Hornets are eighth out of 19 squads with a two-round total of 599. SU shot 305 in the opening round before improving by 11 strokes for a 294 in round two.

Hermansky started his day with an even-par 36 on the front nine, recording birdies on holes two, seven, and nine. Despite two bogeys on the back nine, he stayed at one-over thanks to a birdie on 13 and four straight pars to close the round.

In round two, Hermansky improved with steady play, going par or better on each of the first nine holes. He notched a birdie on five and an eagle on the par-four ninth to finish the day at even par through 36 holes.

Ben Gray and Caden Sherman are tied for 48th at nine-over. Gray collected birdies on six and nine in round one and added another on hole one in round two. Sherman recorded birdies on 13 in both rounds, while also going under par on holes five, six, and nine in the second round.

First-year Connor McCarthy is tied for 57th at 10-over. He earned his first collegiate birdie on hole five in round two, later adding birdies on nine and 14.

Rounding out the Hornets' scoring, Price Whitaker sits at 14-over. After a tough opening round, Whitaker rebounded with an even-par second round that featured three birdies and 12 pars.

McDaniel College leads the field with a 572, while ODAC rival Roanoke is two spots ahead of SU in sixth with a 594.
