Men's Golf Wraps Up First Invitational in Sixth

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Shenandoah University men's golf team finished sixth at the Transylvania Fall Invitational, wrapping up play Sunday with the third and final round at the University Club of Kentucky (par 72, 6,926 yards).

Connor McCarthy and Price Whitaker led the Hornets in the final round, each carding a one-under 71. Braden Hermansky was SU's top finisher overall, placing 13th in the 96-player field with a three-round total of 220 (+4).

Whitaker delivered a bogey-free round Sunday, posting 17 pars and a birdie on hole five to finish the tournament at 13-over. McCarthy collected three birdies and 14 pars in his round to close at 10-over for the invitational.

Caden Sherman provided one of the highlights of the day with an eagle on hole six to cap his tournament. The junior also added birdies on holes one and eight.

Hermansky opened his round with five straight pars after starting on hole six. He added his final birdie of the tournament on 16 and completed the event with rounds of 73-71-76.

Ben Gray rounded out the lineup, finishing at 16-over. He posted 12 pars in the final round, scoring 38 on the front nine and 41 on the back.

As a team, the Hornets recorded 30 birdies and two eagles across the three rounds. SU also played hole one bogey-free throughout the event, combining for 13 pars and two birdies.
