No. 25 Dickinson Defeats No. 10 Field Hockey, 5-1

CARLISLE, Pa. - In a battle of two unbeaten teams, the No. 10 Shenandoah University field hockey team was defeated by No. 25 Dickinson College, 5-1, on Wednesday afternoon in a road non-conference game.

The Red Devils (6-0) scored three goals in the third quarter to pull ahead of the Hornets (5-1), before adding another goal in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

IN BRIEF

The Red Devils had possession for the entirety of the first quarter, getting six shots as Hornets' goalie Cassidy Alexander made three saves. With under a minute left in the first quarter, on their sixth shot, the Red Devils finally broke through and scored the contest's opening goal.

Claudia Lenahan had two chances to tie the game for Shenandoah in the first half, but Dickinson kept the ball out of its net. Alexander made one save in the second quarter to keep the game at 1-0 heading into halftime.

Dickinson added on to its lead with three goals in three minutes to control a 4-0 advantage through three. The Red Devils added another goal with under nine minutes to play, with Mackenzie Watkins scoring for the Hornets to make it 5-1.

Shenandoah heads to No. 4 Salisbury University on Saturday for a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
