Hornets 'B' Team Places Fourth, 'C' Team Fifth at Home Invitational

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's golf team hosted the SU Fall Invitational on Monday afternoon, with the Hornets' "B" and "C" squads competing in the 36-hole event at Winchester Country Club.

The "B" team placed fourth with a 593 (+25), while the "C" team finished fifth. Chowan claimed the team title at 576 (+7), two strokes ahead of runner-up Averett University.

The pair of "Wills" led SU, as Will McClintock and Will Gronlund each finished with a 147 (+5). McClintock highlighted his day with six birdies, while Gronlund put together a bogey-free front nine in the second round.

Mason Duhaime and Seth Curry both tied for 15th after shooting 148 (+6). Playing for the "C" team, Connor Christie carded a 149 (+7) that included an eagle on the 329-yard, par-four 17th hole.

Louie Maniacci birdied hole 10 in both rounds and added five more across the day to post a 151 (+9) for 25th place. Brian Slaughter followed one shot back with a 152 (+10), highlighted by five birdies of his own.

David Mann tallied a 155 (+13) and birdied back-to-back holes 15 and 16 in the final round. Maddox Mallard, competing for the "B" team, rounded out SU's scorers with a 159 (+17) that included two birdies.

The Hornets' "A" team travels to Atlanta this weekend for the West Pines Invitational, hosted by Oglethorpe University.
