Women's Lacrosse Wins 2026 Opener

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team began its 2026 season with a 15-9 non-conference home win versus Susquehanna University on Saturday.

A 6-1 lead in the first, plus four goals from Alex Ripkin, Addison Harmel, and Emily Ransom, helped the Hornets (1-0) to the season-opening win against the Rivehawks (0-1).

RECAP

The first shot on goal of the season found the back of the net for the Hornets, with Emaily Ransom scoring the first goal, and Ayla Jantz scoring moments later. Shenandoah held a 6-0 lead in the quarter following two goals from Addison Harmel and Alex Ripkin.

Following two Susquehanna goals, Harmel completed the first half hat trick and put Shenandoah's seventh goal on the board. By halftime, the Hornets' lead was cut to three, 7-4.

The Riverhawks looked to have some momentum in the third, scoring the first goal of the quarter, but Ransom and Harmel added two rapid goals for Shenandoah late in the third. Jantz and Ransom opened the fourth quarter with a goal each in the first two minutes.

The final quarter also saw Kaitlin Clements score her first goal of the season and Ripkin add two late goals for the 15-9 win.

Natalie Opatovsky joined Ripkin, Harmel, and Ransom with a four-point performance after serving up four assists.

Maddie Gaboury played the entire game in net for Shenandoah, recording six saves in the win.

UP NEXT

Shenandoah faces St. Mary's College (Md.) next weekend on the road.
