Ransom Scores Seven Goals in Women's Lacrosse Victory

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team took to the road for the first time in 2026 and defeated St. Mary's College of Maryland 16-10 on Saturday afternoon.

Emily Ransom scored seven goals for the Hornets (2-0), which is the most by an SU player in a single game since 2023. Maddie Gaboury earned the win in the net against the Seahawks (0-3).

RECAP

Alex Ripkin began the day with a goal less than a minute into the contest. St. Mary's was able to even the game at one, but Addison Harmel gave the lead back to the Hornets just over halfway through the first. The Hornets led 4-1 at the end of the first thanks to Ripkin's second goal of the afternoon and Ransom's first.

Ransom then scored just moments into the second, putting the Hornets up by four. The Seahawks tallied the next two goals of the game, but Ransom put SU back up by three, with an assist from Cameryn Bowker. By halftime, SMC cut SU's lead down to one, 6-5.

Shenandoah added six goals to its total in the third quarter, including three goals in the first three minutes. Harmel scored the first pair of goals in the quarter for SU, with Ransom adding the third. Then, with 10:50 remaining, Ransom scored yet another goal to make it 10-5. 

After the Seahawks added their lone goal of the third, Ransom recorded her sixth goal of the afternoon. Aylssa Webster won the draw control following Ransom's sixth, which directly led to Ayla Jantz scoring to put SU up 12-6.

In the fourth quarter, each team scored four goals, as Ransom and Ripkin scored for Shenandoah in the fourth.

Natalie Opatovsky and Webster each had two assists, tying for the team-high.

Talia Maria led Shenandoah with five draw control victories.

Shenandoah returns home for a Wednesday ODAC game versus Eastern Mennonite University at 6 p.m.
