Men's Lacrosse Downs Hood in Midweek Contest

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team defeated Hood College 11-8 at home on Wednesday night for the team's first win of the 2026 season.

Xavier Parker tallied a hat trick for the Hornets (1-1), including the first goal of a 3-0 run in the fourth quarter that helped them defeat the Blazers (0-1).

RECAP

Parker scored within the first 30 seconds of the game to put SU up 1-0 early, but Hood responded two minutes later to tie it. Jake Green added a goal for SU but Hood once again responded to tie the game at two, less than five minutes in.

Hood went on to score four more goals in the first quarter for a 6-3 lead at the end of one, with Noah Nolt scoring for the Hornets off an assist from Liam Arnsmeyer.

Jack Dwyer made six saves in the second for the Hornets to hold the visitors scoreless in the frame. Cody Griffis registered two points in the quarter, first assisting on a goal from Green and then scoring one of his own to make it 6-5 at halftime.

Hood scored the first goal of the second half to add to its lead, 7-5. Nolt added his second goal of the contest, cutting the Hood lead to one, before Kennedy Duda scored just 14 seconds later to tie the game at seven. Arnsmeyer and Braxton Snead had the assists on the two goals.

Late in the third, Arnsmeyer picked up another assist, finding Parker with 2:14 left in the third to put Shenandoah in front, 8-7. Nearly a minute later, on a man-up situation, Hood scored, sending the game to the fourth tied at eight.

An early fourth quarter turnover by the Blazers led to Parker giving the lead back to the Hornets, capping off his hat trick. Shenandoah called a timeout with 11:03 remaining and came out of the break and scored its 10th goal of the evening as Arnsmeyer found the back of the net with an assist from Dylan Foughty. Arnsmeyer and Foughty connected with each other again two minutes later to make it 11-8.

Hood turned over possession nine times in the fourth quarter and were held to zero shots on goal during that span.

Arnsmeyer had a team-high five points with Parker, Foughty, Griffis, Green, and Nolt all having multi-point performances. Brody McClure had a team-high four ground balls, while Carson Gallant led the team with three caused turnovers.
