Williams Named ODAC Baseball Player of the Week

FOREST, Va. - Shenandoah University baseball catcher JP Williams has been named ODAC Player of the Week on Monday following a two-win week for the No. 11 Hornets.

Williams hit .800 at the plate this week with an 8-for-10 performance. The catcher had three doubles, a home run, six RBI, and scored six runs. Additionally, he drew three walks and was hit-by-pitch once. On the base paths, Williams went 2-for-2 in steals.

The junior had two 3-for-3 games, first in a midweek game versus Washington and Lee University. The second game was against Virginia Wesleyan University on Saturday in a 12-1 win for the Hornets. 

In two games versus the Marlins Williams had five RBI, five hits, six runs scored, two walks, and his lone home run of the week.

Behind the plate the catcher had 15 putouts and an assist with no errors.

Overall this season, Williams leads the Hornets with a .509 batting average. He also has 22 RBI and 13 extra base hits.
