WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team got back in the win column with a 22-6 ODAC win at home over Virginia Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon.
Twelve different Hornets (6-3, 1-0 ODAC) scored, with
Ayla Jantz leading the way past the Marlins (5-4, 0-1) with six goals of her own.

The Marlins were the first team to score in the game, but the Hornets quickly responded with two goals in 46 seconds by
Addison Harmel and
Ayla Jantz. VWU then tied the game at two, but
Emily Ransom and
Natalie Opatovsky gave the Hornets the lead again, 4-2. With a hair over four minutes left in the first, the Marlins scored to cut the deficit to one, but the Hornets ended the first up by two, thanks to another goal from Ransom.
Shenandoah opened the doors wide open in the game with four goals on four shots to start the second. Jantz and Harmel had two goals each of the four. Jantz added three more goals, along with tallies from
Sarah Karlinchak and
Cecelia Rock, to make it a 14-3 game.
Grace Thornhill added the final goal of the half, with SU leading 15-5 at the break.
Keira Choi,
Kaitlin Clements, and
Alyssa Webster added the only three goals of the third, while Karlinchak, Opatovsky,
Sofia Albi, and
Jordan Smith closed out the scoring in the fourth. Smith's goal was the first of her career.
Eight Hornets registered an assist, led by Opatovsky's four. Jantz led the team in points with seven.
Maddie Gaboury,
Madison Perry, and
Erin Nash split time in the cage for the Hornets, combining for four saves.
