Schoenen Named ODAC Defensive Player of the Week

FOREST, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's volleyball team earned its second ODAC Player of the Week nod of the season, with Alex Schoenen earning the league's Defensive Player of the Week award.

Schoenen recorded 25 digs and registered 11.5 blocks in a 3-0 week for the Hornets. The sophomore had eight solo blocks and seven block assists in the three games.

In a midweek non-conference game versus Bluefield University (Va.), Schoenen accumulated a season-high 10 digs before having a career-high in solo blocks versus Eastern Mennonite with five.

This year, the middle blocker/outside hitter leads the Hornets with 54 blocks, which includes 20 solo blocks and 34 assists. Defensively, he also has a .964 reception percentage.

The Hornets play this weekend at Randolph-Macon for a tri-match versus the Yellow Jackets and Averett University.
