Men's Lacrosse Overcome by Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse team lost 10-5 at Bridgewater College in ODAC play on Wednesday night.

The Eagles (7-3, 1-2 ODAC) overcame a first quarter deficit and outscored the Hornets (2-8, 0-3) 9-3 for the final 45 minutes.

RECAP

Shenandoah had five shots in the first six minutes of the game and finally broke through with a Dylan Foughty marker with 7:50 left in the first. Roughly three minutes later, the Eagles got on the board and tied the game at one, but Fought answered with his second of the game to give the Hornets the lead again.

The Hornets outshot the Eagles 10-8 in the opening frame with starting goalie Ryan Feldman making three saves at the defensive end of the field.

Seven minutes into the second quarter the Eagles tied the game before adding two more goals across the next four minutes. Shenandoah's lone goal of the frame came from Jake Green on an assist from Cody Griffis with 12 seconds left. Bridgewater led 4-3 at halftime.

On the first shot of the second half, Griffis tied the game 4-4 for the Hornets on a feed from Luke Petrie. Despite three more shots on goal for SU in the quarter, that would be its only goal of the third, with BC scoring twice to take a 6-4 lead into the fourth.

The Eagles scored 10 seconds into the fourth and added another one five minutes later for an 8-4 lead. Xavier Parker responded for the Hornets to cut their deficit to three with six minutes left, but two more goals by the home team sealed the win.

Braxton Snead won six faceoffs for the Hornets while Brody McClure won three.

Wyatt Gessner recorded seven groundballs, followed by four from Kennedy Duda and Parker.
