Women's Lacrosse Powers Past Quakers

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team earned a dominant 21-5 win at Guilford College on Saturday in ODAC play.

Emily Ransom led the Hornets (7-4, 2-0 ODAC) with five goals, while Addison Harmel and Ayla Jantz each added four in the win over the Quakers (4-6, 0-3).

RECAP

Less than five minutes into the game, Shenandoah led 6-0. Emily Ransom scored the first two goals before Alex Ripkin added the team's third on a Natalie Opatovsky assist. Opatovsky quickly added a goal of her own, followed by Addison Harmel and Ripkin to conclude the opening five-minute goal streak.

The Hornets slowed down the pace of the game and didn't score for the next eight minutes of play until they made it 7-0 with a goal from Harmel on an assist from Taryn Junta.

Optovsky, Ransom, and Ayla Jantz added the first three goals of the second, prior to Guilford finding the net for the first time. Harmel added another goal for the Hornets, but the Quakers scored two more goals to make it 11-3. Shenandoah ended the second quarter on a 3-0 run with goals from Sofia Albi, Harmel, and Ransom.

Ransom and Keira Choi extended SU's lead to 13 to start the third quarter, prior to Guilford adding its fourth goal of the day. With the clock continuing to run, Junta scored a man-up goal towards the end of the third to make it 17-4 entering the fourth.

Jantz registered the first two goals of the fourth within the first five minutes of the frame. After Guilford scored, Acadia Massie scored her first career goals with a pair of markers in the final two minutes.

Cameryn Bowker registered a hat trick of assists in the game to lead the Hornets.

UP NEXT

Shenandoah plays at home this Wednesday at 5 p.m. versus Bridgewater.
