Meyers Pitches Complete Game Shutout for No. 6 Baseball

WINCHESTER, Va. - The No. 6 Shenandoah University baseball program earned a 10-0 seven-inning victory over York College of Pennsylvania on Tuesday at home in a non-conference contest.

The Hornets (23-4) were led by Michael Meyers (3-1), who pitched a three-hit complete game shutout over the Spartans (11-11). The complete game was the first for the Hornets since Jacob Bell in 2024.

RECAP

Michael Meyers pitched the first two innings without giving up a hit and struck out two. The Hornets took advantage of that and plated a run in the bottom of the second, with Adham Sahebzadah scoring to make it 1-0 on a throwing error.

Meyers came back in the third and worked around a one-out single and a stolen base to keep the Hornets up one. In the bottom of the frame, back-to-back doubles by Kyle Garrett and Carl Keenan made it 2-0, with Keenan picking up the RBI. Shenandoah then quickly took a 4-0 lead off a 420' home run to left field by JP Williams.

After Meyers retired the fourth in order, the Hornets came out offensively and hit three doubles to take a 6-0 lead. Christian Carver started the fourth with a double, followed by a Jaime Padilla RBI two-base hit, and capped by another Keenan RBI double. Later in the inning, Keenan scored to make it 7-0 on an RBI single from Dillon Mauzy.

Both teams went in order in the fifth, and the Hornets added a run in the sixth to make it 8-0 on a double steal, with Padilla scoring.

In the seventh, Meyers set the Hornets up to end the game in the home half after allowing just a single in the inning. Defensively, the Hornets also got help from two stellar plays by Keenan over at second.

Cole Ambrosius pinch hit to start the bottom of the seventh and lined his second pitch of the at-bat 425' to dead center to push SU's lead to nine. Then, on the very next pitch, Tyler Smith went yard to center field to end the game on back-to-back home runs.

Meyers finished his day with four strikeouts and no walks.

Keenan, Padilla, Garrett, and Smith each had multi-hit days at the plate, with Keenan moving his hit streak to 21 games.
