Women's Lacrosse Defeated for the First Time This Season

SALISBURY, Md. - The Shenandoah University women's lacrosse team was defeated for the first time this season with an 18-6 loss to No. 5/3 Salisbury University on the road on Saturday.

A nine-goal third quarter helped lift the Sea Gulls (7-0) past the Hornets (5-1). Addison Harmel and Emily Ransom combined for four of Shenandoah's goals with two each.

RECAP

Sailisbury grabbed a 5-0 lead across the first 19 minutes of the game with three goals in the first and two in the first four minutes of the second. Just minutes after the Sea Gulls' fifth goal, Emily Ransom put the Hornets on the board with her first of the night. The senior then scored late in the quarter to make it 5-2 heading into halftime with Salisbury leading.

Less than 30 seconds into the third, Kaitlin Clements found the back of the net to cut the Hornets' deficit down to two, 5-3. However, two goals in 61 seconds by Salisbury gave them a four-goal lead. Following a Shenandoah goal by Ayla Jantz, Salisbury scored seven goals in the final 9:19 of the third, grabbing a 14-4 lead.

The Sea Gulls added four goals to their total in the fourth as Addison Harmel scored the two Shenandoah marks in the frame. Both of Harmel's goals were assisted by Cameryn Bowker.

Maddie Gaboury, Madison Perry, and Erin Nash all played in goal for the Hornets with Gaboury making eight saves in the start.
