Men's Golf Competes in Two Rounds of Fernandina Beach Collegiate

Fernandina Beach, Fla. - The Shenandoah University 'A', 'B', and 'C' teams took part in the first two rounds of the Fernandina Beach Collegiate on Monday at the Fernandina Beach Golf Course.

'A' TEAM RECAP

The Hornets' 'A' team is in third place out of the 12-team competition with a 578 (+2), scoring a 292 (+4) in the first round and a 286 (-2) as a team in the second round.

Dan Ailor leads the Hornets and is tied for fifth overall with a 142 (-2). The senior started his tournament with a 70 (-2) in the first with five birdies and 10 pars. He concluded his day with an even-par round in the second, highlighted by an eagle on the par-five 490-yard hole two.

Ben Gray is at a 146 (+2) after his first two rounds of the competition. Gray shot a 71 (-1) in his first 18 holes, which started with eight straight pars or better. He then carded a 75 (+3) with two birdies and 12 pars.

Braden Hermansky sits one stroke behind Gray with a 147 (+3). Hermansky's day started with a birdie on hole one, which led to a 76 (+4) for the first round. He improved his total in the second round, despite starting with a bogey. He strung together three straight birdies on the front nine to score a 71 (-1) in the second.

Will McClintock started his day with a 79 (+7) but concluded with a 69 (-3) for the best round by any Hornet on Monday. He totaled a 148 (+4) with eight birdies between the two rounds of action.

Conor McCarthy has a 149 (+5) entering the final day of the tournament. McCarthy scored a 75 (+3) in the first and finished with a 74 (+2) in the final round of the day. Caden Sherman registered a 154 (+10) following a 79 (+7) and a 75 (+3).

'B' TEAM RECAP

The 'B' team is currently in eighth place with a team score of 615 (+39).

Price Whitaker leads the team tied for 28th with a 152 (+8). The senior scored a birdie on hole one in each round, going with a 79 (+7) in the first before improving to a 73 (+1) in the second round.

Brian Slaughter is currently one stroke behind Whitaker with a 153 (+9). Salighter started his day with a 75 (+3) behind a bogey-free front nine. He carded a 78 (+6) in Monday's final round.

Connor Christie reported a 155 (+11) in his two rounds, starting with a 79 (+7) and ending with a 76 (+4).

Mason DuHaime enters Tuesday with a 157 (+13). He started the tournament with an 80 (+8) in round one before improving by three strokes for a 77 (+5). Davis Hutchins is one stroke behind DuHaime with a 158 (+14). Hutchins' best round came in the first with a 78 (+6) before carding an 80 (+8) during the final 18 holes.

Seth Curry closed out the day for the 'B' team with a 164 (+20). Curry scored an 81 (+9) in the first and finished with an 83 (+11) in the second.

'C' TEAM RECAP

The Hornets' 'C' team is tied for ninth with a score of 621 (+45) after Monday's two rounds.

Harrison Carter leads the team with a 151 (+7), which puts him tied for 25th. Carter had three birdies in the first round, landing him a 76 (+4). He then recorded four birdies in the second, improving his score by one stroke for a 75 (+3).

Maddox Mallard scored a 155 (+11), recording the same round scores as Christie on the 'B' team. Mallard shot even-par on the front nine of his second round with a birdie on hole two.

Louie Maniacci has a 157 (+13) after his first two rounds. Maniacci started his spring season with a 76 (+4) in the first round and then had an 81 (+9) in the second round.

Connor Reinhard shot a 161 (+17) with a 79 (+7) and an 82 (+10). Will Gronlund and David Mann matched each other with a 163 (+19) each. Gronlund scored a 79 (+7) in the first, while Mann carded that score in the second round.

UP NEXT

Shenandoah plays the final round of the tournament on Tuesday.
