Men's Golf Begins Competition at Sam Snead

Williamsburg, VA - The Shenandoah University men's golf team sits in 13th at the Sam Snead Collegiate following the first 36 holes of action at the par-71, 6,878-yard Golden Horseshoe Golf Course on Monday.

The Hornets tallied a score of 605 (+37) on Monday, hitting 302 in the first round and 303 in the second round as a team.

SU's currently led by Braden Hermansky, who shot a 153 (+7) on Monday. Hermansky made five birdies in the first round for a 74 (+3), prior to a stretch of 12 pars or better leading to a 75 (+4) for the first year.

In second for SU is Connor McCarthy, placing two strokes behind Hermansky with a 155 (+9). The first year had 11 pars and two birdies in each round, carding a 75 (+4) and a 76 (+5).

Dan Ailor recovered from a rough opening stretch to land eight straight pars or better in the first round for a 77 (+6). Three birdies on the second lap of the course helped Ailor improve his score by two strokes, earning a 75 (+4) for a two-round score of 156 (+10).

Caden Sherman concluded the day with a 157 (+11). His tournament started with four birdies, which led him to a 76 (+5), and the day ended with a two-birdie round for a 77 (+6).

The day for Shenandoah closed out with Price Whitaker's 162 (+16). The senior began Monday with eight straight pars, helping him to an 80 (+9). He then carded a 78 (+7) in the final round of the day, highlighted by a pair of back-nine birdies.
