FOREST, Va. - Shenandoah University baseball third baseman Tyler Smith has been named ODAC Player of the Week for week eight, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Smith hit three home runs and nine RBI in three games this past week. Overall the sophomore transfer had a .462 batting average, had six hits, scored three runs, and drew a walk.

The third baseman hit a game-ending home run versus York (Pa.) at home on Tuesday in the seventh inning, helping the Hornets earn its tenth run-rule victory of the season.

Then on Friday, with the Hornets trialing by nine at one point, Smith hit two three-run home runs to complete the comeback and give SU the 12-11 ODAC win at Guilford.

Smith has 47 RBI this year and 11 home runs, with the latter leading the ODAC. He is the fourth Hornet to earn ODAC Player of the Week this season, joining Carl Keenan, Jaime Padilla, and JP Williams.

The Hornets play at Bridgewater on Tuesday before hosting the University of Mary Washington in a non-conference game on Wednesday.
