HARRISONBURG, VA. — Shenandoah's Outdoor Track & Field teams are going their separate ways this weekend as the team prepares for the Outdoor ODAC Championships in two weeks. The majority of the team opened this weekend at the EMU Heritage Invitational, where a limited day 1 saw one event champion and 3 personal records.
MEN'S RECAP
On the oval,
John Buckley and
Shane Lyons competed in the 3,000m Steeplechase. Buckley took the event title with a PR of 11:01.70. Lyons came in behind Buckley with a time of 11:10.97.
In the field,
Carson Harris,
Mekhi Mims, and
Grady Speer competed in the 14-man Javelin Throw, where Speer claimed 7th place with a PR throw of 37.75m. Mims took 10th with a 34.62, while Harris, in his first time competing in the event this season, took 11th with a throw of 33.51m.
Speer, alongside
Luke Jacobs and
Sawyer Paine, also competed in the Hammer Throw. Speer would take 3rd in the 15-man field, with a throw of 39.73m. Jacobs finished 9th at 32.38m, while Paine would finish 11th with a PR throw of 30.42.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Arial Crawford was the lone runner for the women on day 1, setting a new PR in the 3,000m Steeplechase with a time of 12:55.59.
Molly Donaldson,
Kaitlyn Loy,
Elaina Ramos, and
Sophia Sharp all competed in the Javelin Throw on day 1. Donaldson set a new PR, eclipsing 30m with a 2nd place throw of 30.10m. Ramos would come in next for the Hornets with a 6th place throw of 23.23m. Loy finished in 11th place at 18.92m, while Sharp would start her career as a Hornet with an 8th place throw of 21.21.

The Hornets continue competition at the EMU Heritage Invitational, while
Makenna Thrush will travel to the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic, hosted by Lynchburg, to compete in the 5,000m Run.
