NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Shenandoah University outdoor track & field teams completed their seasons Saturday afternoon with ninth and fifth place finishes at the Mason-Dixon Championships.
Senior Amanda Theall highlighted the Hornets performance by being named as the Field Athlete of the Meet for the second time this season.
Theall, who won the hammer throw on Friday, won the shot put Saturday to help her add the outdoor field athlete honors to the indoor award she won in February.
Theall also finished second in the discus throw in addition to her two victories.
Freshman Breana Hagwood was fifth in the 100 meter high hurdles at 15.39 seconds.
In the relays, the women's 4 x 400 meter team shattered the school record by 6.44 seconds to finish at 4:16.15 and finish fifth overall.
The men's 4 x 400 team had a season best 3:29.45.
Junior Evan Griffin rounded out his outstanding meet with a fourth place showing in the discus. He had a toss of 39.95 meters.
The SU men finished ninth at the meet while the women were tied for fifth after completing day one in third place.
This is the final regular season meet of the season. Selected student-athletes will participate in number of last chance meets in the next two weeks in the hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
Senior Jaclyn Mohlmann leads off this group with her participation in the Lynchburg Multi-Event on Monday and Tuesday.
