ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – North Carolina Wesleyan combined a nearly 50 percent shooting performance and a five rebound bulge against 19 percent shooting by Shenandoah in the first half to key a 74-43 Dixie Conference victory Saturday afternoon.
NC Wesleyan (8-7, 2-2) raced out to a 38-12 lead by halftime thanks to 15 points from forward Keith Sudler. Sudler was 5 for 7 from the field, including 3 for 4 from behind the arc, to help the Bishops on their 25-2 run over the final 11:14. This surge turned an 11-10 game into the 26 point halftime advantage.
The Hornets were able to improved their shooting to 11 for 28 (39.3 percent) in the final 20 minutes, but NCWC continued to pour it on behind the strength of 14 for 27 (51.9 percent) of its own.
For the first time in more than four seasons, SU did not have any players in double figures. Tyson Thompson (Keysville, Va./Randolph Henry) led with nine.
Sudler had a game high 18 for the Bishops while Rob Smith added 15 points and 10 rebounds.
