HARRISONBURG, Va. - Shenandoah University entered the Thanksgiving break on a winning note Tuesday night with a 92-82 non-conference victory at Eastern Mennonite.

Shenandoah (2-1) got an eighth best in school history 37 points from junior Chris Rhone (Washington, D.C./Northwestern) to key the win.

Rhone hit 14 field goals (one three) and was 8-9 from the line in his stellar performance. Rhone, who was named USA South Conference Player of the Week earlier in the day, came into the contest averaging 19 points per game.

Rhone's performance and a strong second half allowed SU to put away the pesky Royals (2-1). EMU kept it close most of the way before Rhone took over in the final five minutes of the contest.

The first half was a back and forth affair as SU jumped out to a 15-6 lead, but a 22-5 EMU run from the 12:33 to 4:53 marks gave the Royals a 28-20 lead with just over four minutes left. SU finally snapped a 4:18 scoreless streak at the end of this run with a Chris Jenkins (Bristow, Va./Brentsville) layup at the 4:14 mark.

Jenkins steal and bucket energized his ballclub; Shenandoah finished the first half of play with 15-6 run to give the visitors a 35-34 lead at the break.

Rhone provided an omen of things to come with 12 first half points while EJ Arrington had a half high 13 for the hosts.

James Brodie (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) finished with 10 points for the Hornets; Mike Culen had 19 of his EMU team high 22 points after the break. Arrington finished with 21. A complete box score and play by play can be found at http://www.su.edu/athletics/mb/200304/112503.htm

Shenandoah is off for the next seven days for Thanksgiving break and will return to the court with an away game at longtime rival Frostburg State Tuesday night at 7:30.
