WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University staged a furious second half comeback to sneak out a 67-65 victory in the final Dixie Conference quarterfinal round game.

Shenandoah (13-12) now will face top seeded Christopher Newport University in the 8:00 semi-final Friday night. The other seeds held; No. 2 Methodist will take on No. 3 NC Wesleyan in the 6:00 game.

Down 47-38 with 14:32 left after Greensboro's BJ Bryant converted a three-point play, the Hornets got back into the contest with a 17-8 run over the next 6:17.

Marcellus Morgan regained the lead for GC on a pair of free throws at the eight minute mark, but SU took the lead for good on the very next possession when Chad Brashears (Hagerstown, Md./St. Maria Goretti) canned a second chance three-pointer.

The Hornets eventually extended the lead to as much as five points but were forced to hold on in the waning moments as GC scored six of the game's final nine points.

Greensboro regained possession with 12 seconds left and had a chance to tie, but the ball was fumbled around in its offensive end and eventually they turned it over as the final buzzer sounded.

The Pride's Marcellus Morgan led all scorers with tournament high 27 points while Trey Williams and BJ Bryant had 13 each.

Tyson Thompson (Keysville, Va./Randolph Henry) headed up a group of four SU scorers in double figures with 12 points. He also had eight assists and six rebounds; freshman James Brodie (Stafford, Va./North Stafford) turned in one of his best games of the year with 10 points and seven rebounds.
