WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University head basketball coaches Melissa Smeltzer-Kraft and Adam Walsh jointly announced Monday the addition of part-time assistants into their two programs.

Smeltzer-Kraft, the head women's coach, has brought on Greg Morris as an assistant coach with her staff while Jordan Hunter '18, '20 MBA returns to the men's program he starred for from 2014-18.

Hunter was a team captain and started 24 of 25 games for Walsh in his senior year. Following graduation, he was one of two SU student-athletes selected to attend the NCAA Career in Sports Forum at the NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana.

A Clinton, Maryland native, Hunter is currently pursuing his Master's in Business Administration in the Byrd School of Business.

Morris is a former AAU coach and a member of the basketball program at UNC Charlotte and joins a women's basketball program coming off of its first-ever ODAC title.

The part-time position on the women's staff opened up this summer Aby Diop was hired as the head coach at Averett University and part-time assistant Elsebeth Birman was promoted into the full-time spot.

Morris comes to SU after serving as a graduate assistant coach with the Drexel University women's basketball program from 2016-18. In this role, he was involved in all aspects of the program including practice and game management, player development, recruiting and academic monitoring.

From 2011 through 2014, Morris was a student manager and a practice player for UNCC as he got his start in collegiate coaching.

This role came after he earned his associates degree from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in 2002. While there, he was a two-time captain of the men's basketball squad, earning all-conference honors in his second year and graduating as the No. 2 scorer in program history.

"We wanted to be very deliberate in adding a new coach onto our staff," Smeltzer-Kraft said. "El and I have been coaching together for three years now and we wanted to make sure the new person was a good fit with our coaching styles.

"After meeting with Greg, we knew he would be an excellent addition. We are very happy to have him to join our basketball family."

From 2008 through 2011, Morris was the head coach of the Lady Warriors program, an AAU program based out of Charlotte, North Carolina.

"We are excited to have Jordan back in the program," Walsh said. "His character is exactly what we are looking for to impact our players.

"Jordan has an excellent basketball IQ and will be a great asset to our program. We are excited to get him on the sidelines with us."

Both men have started their part-time duties and are involved in all aspects of their respective programs.
