HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Shenandoah University women's tennis team earned its first victory of the spring Monday morning with a 9-0 non-league victory over Cairn.
Shenandoah (2-4) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles over the Highlanders (3-1) before winning the six singles matches in straight sets.

Jahveesha Combs led the Hornets to the victory with an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles (combining with
Allison Cherwien) before winning at love at No. 1 singles.
Cherwien was a 6-1, 6-2 victor at No. 2.
Kelly Hudak,
Jada Lewis,
Erin Talko, and
Madison Shawver were all double winners. Talko and Shawver, as Nos. 5 and 6, respectively, won their singles matches in eight-game pro-sets as the match result was already determined.

The women continue play Tuesday with a 4 p.m. contest versus Principia (Ill.) College.
