MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Shenandoah University outdoor track & field teams continued their strong showings Friday at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.
On day two of the season opening meet for the Hornets, both the men and women had scoring performances on both the track and with the field events.
With 10 events scored, the SU men are tied for 11
th with 12 points scored and the women tied for 10
th with seven points. The Shenandoah women are tied with Vassar for the lead among NCAA Division III schools with the men tied for fourth (with Heidelberg) among DIII institutions.
MEN'S RECAP
Junior
William Crowder led the men by finishing fifth in the 100 meters. He posted a 10.76 seconds in the finals after having a personal best 10.60 in the semi-finals.
Devin Kohout was second in the open one mile with a 4:37.34.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Kiara Felston wasted no time in her transition from the indoor season by finishing eighth in the hammer throw at 48.55 meters. She was the top DIII finisher and bested 13 NCAA Division I athletes.
Senior
Erin Atkinson had a 19:02.00 to finish sixth in the 5000 meters with
Sarah Sidoro matching Atkinson's finish in the open 400 meters. She ran a 1:03.52.
Atkinson was second among the DIII competitors.
