Women's Tennis Tops Ramapo

Hornets Win, 7-2

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Shenandoah University women's tennis team completed its spring break trip Friday morning with a 7-2 non-league victory over Ramapo (N.J.).
 
Shenandoah (3-5) won all three doubles matches by an 8-5 score over the Roadrunners (4-5) before clinching the team victory with wins at Nos. 1 and 3 singles.
 
IN BRIEF
Both two-set singles wins also came by the same score – 6-0, 6-1. Kelly Hudak had the match clinching victory for SU with her victory at No. 3 after Jahveesha Combs had put Hudak in position to clinch with her triumph at No. 1.
 
With the team result decided, matches at Nos. 4-6 singles were played as eight-game pro-sets. Jada Lewis was an 8-4 victor at No. 4 and Erin Talko 8-2 at No. 5.
 
The Hornets two losses were by the slimmest of margins – Alison Cherwien lost 4-6, 6-4, 0-1 (7-10) at No. 2 and Madison Shawver 7-8 (9-11) at No. 6.
 
In doubles, Combs combined with Cherwien at No. 1, Hudak with Lewis at No. 2, and Talko with Shawver at No. 3.
