Women's Tennis Dominates Marlins

Hornets Win, 8-1

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's tennis team continued its winning ways Saturday with an 8-1 ODAC victory over Virginia Wesleyan.

Shenandoah (8-6, 5-3 ODAC) won its fourth straight match by dispatching the Marlins (4-7, 1-4).

IN BRIEF
SU took a 2-1 lead after doubles, winning 8-0 at both No. 1 and No. 3. Jahveesha Combs and Lily Kimble combined for the win at No. 1 and Kelly Hudak and Erin Talko at No. 3.

The Marlins defaulted at No. 6 singles, leaving SU to have to win just two of the five remaining singles matches to earn the victory.

Hudak got the first victory as she was leading 4-1 in the opening set before her opponent retired with an injury. Allison Cherwien then put SU over the top with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3.

Combs won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1, Talko 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5, and Kimble 7-5, 7-5 at No. 4 to put the finishing touches on the victory.
