Hornets Compete in Cardinal Classic

Harrower Sets Program Record

LANDOVER, Md. - The Shenandoah University indoor track & field teams took the road for the first time this season for the 2025 Cardinal Classic in Landover, Maryland on Saturday.

Ethan Harrower was the lone Hornet to break a program record today as he broke his own record in the men's 5,000m race with a time of 15:31.55, claiming fifth in the race. Harrower previously ran a best of 15:32.33 last month in the season-opening meet. Caleb Beiswenger and Brayden Shotwell each moved up in the program's top 10 with times of 15:56.17 and 16:17.89, respectively.

The women's 5,000m race saw two Hornets move up in the all-time performance list for the program as Madeline Lotts earned fifth all-time with a mark of 18:49.64 and Maddy Chorney moved to eighth all-time at 19:00.73.

Makenna Thrush finished the women's 800m finals in 2:27.33 which moves her to eighth all-time in the program's record book.

In the field, after setting a program record last week, Mekhi Mims placed fifth in the high jump with a leap of 1.80m. Katya Hoover, in the shot put, and Taylor McIntyre, in the high jump, placed in the top five in their event for the women.

The Hornets set 31 personal records today with 18 on the men's side and 13 for the women.
