Throwers Compete at Day Two of Widener Invite

CHESTER, Pa. - On day two of the Widener Winter Evening Invite, the Shenandoah University men's and women's track and field programs competed in throws action on Saturday at Widener.

For the women, Katya Hoover was the lone Hornet to compete in Saturday's action. The graduate student placed 18th in the weight throw and 19th in the shot put. Hoover's heave of 12.82m in the weight throw set a new personal record and moved the Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania native into 10th all-time in the program record book.

Grady Speer set a new personal record in the men's shot put with a throw of 11.64m while Luke Jacobs hit a mark of 10.35m in the same event.

Speer, Jacobs, and Zak McIntyre set new PRs in the day's final event, the men's weight throw. Speer hit 10.93m in the event, while Jacobs was just ahead of him at 10.96m. McIntyre's mark of 14.46m not only set a PR but also moved him into seventh all-time in the men's record book.

Throughout the entire weekend, 18 PRs were set across the two programs. In Friday's action, Ethan Harrower, Brayden Shotwell, Alexis Hubbard, Grace Semow, and Maddy Chorney advanced in the program record books in their respective events.
