Track and Field Competes at Roanoke

SALEM, Va. - The Shenandoah University track and field programs sent a small group of athletes down to Roanoke College on Friday evening to compete at day one of the Bast-Cregger Multi Invitational.

In the lone field events for the Hornets on the day, Taylor McIntyre earned a personal record in the women's high jump with a 1.44m jump, which places her ninth all-time in the program's record book. In the same event, Katya Hoover had a sixth-place showing with her jump of 1.49m.

Mekhi Mims placed third in the men's high jump as he matched his own school record at 1.92m. Mims cleared the mark on his third attempt after surpassing the 1.82m and 1.87m jumps on his first attempts.

On the track, William Crowder is set to compete in the men's 60m dash finals on Saturday after running a 6.87-second race in the semis. In the prelims, Crowder ran a 6.95-second race, while teammate Wyatt Newcome clocked in at 7.24 seconds. Janelle Anderson competed in the women's 60m prelims, finishing at 8.30 for a season-best performance.

All four Hornets to run in the 500m races set new PRs and moved up in their respective record books. On the men's side, Kyle Corpin finished his first career 500m race in 1:12.13 which is the seventh-best mark for the program.

Alexis Hubbard and Grace Semow also ran in their first career 500m events and set their names in the program's top five times. Hubbard sits second all-time with a time of 1:24.83 and Semow finished at 1:25.81 for fifth all-time. Mackenzie Plowman sits between Hubbard and Semow in third place all-time with a mark of 1:25.07 in the event today.
