WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's basketball team won its fifth straight game on Monday night with an 87-64 win over Penn State Schuylkill at home in non-conference play.

The Hornets (5-0) and Lions (2-5) were tied at ten just over three minutes into the game, but SU pulled away with a 19-2 run, holding Schuylkill to zero field goals during the stretch. Shenandoah had four players with 10 or more points and 45 points from the bench in the win.

RECAP

Neither team missed a shot in the early going, scoring on seven straight shots, which put the Lions up 10-8 following a turnover by Shenandoah. Back-to-back layups by Jaylen Lemon, making his first career start, put gave SU the lead, which they'd hold on to for the rest of the game.

Reigning ODAC Player of the Week, Ellis Wright dropped two threes and Dorian Davis chipped in four points giving the Hornets a double-digit advantage with 12 minutes remaining in the opening half. The previously mentioned 19-2 run concluded with a four-point play by Isaiah Lee, which were the first points of his young career.

A pair of dunks by Seth Sanusi, both assisted by Landon Russ, helped the Hornets get up by 24. Russ and Andrew Ford contributed two points each, which extend the lead to 28, the largest of the half for Shenandoah. The Hornets led 54-30 at halftime.

The second half started in similar fashion to the first with both teams scoring on their first two possessions. After the first media timeout of the half, Ford found Sanusi in the paint for an easy layup, giving Shenandoah a 31 point lead, the largest of the night.

Over the next ten minutes the Lions tried to chip away at their deficit, but were never able to get it below 21 as Lane Nester, Conner Long, and Kameron Brown scored for SU. The lead stayed above 20 for the final six minutes of play with the Hornets' defense forcing five turnovers in the latter moments of the contest.

All 14 of the active Shenandoah players saw playing time in the win, with 13 different scorers. Connor Johnson, Nester, and Brown joined Lee in scoring their first career points. Lee and Wright each had the team-high 14 points.
