Track and Field Wraps Up Action at Roanoke

SALEM, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's and women's track and field teams partook on day two of the Bast-Cregger Multi Invitational hosted by Roanoke College on Saturday.

Starting the day in the field, Alexis Hubbard placed eighth in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.18m while Kaitlyn Loy moved into fourth all-time for SU in the same event with a mark of 4.91m.

In the men's shot put, Grady Speer set a personal record on his first attempt after throwing 11,81m. Speers set another PR later in the day in the weight throw event with a mark of 11.87m, breaking his previous best of 10.93m.

Over on the track, Wyatt Newcome and Kowen Brassfield each set PRs and moved up in the program's record book for the men's 300m race with performances of 36.61 seconds and 40.43 seconds, respectively.

Emma Nicely, Maddy Chorney, and Kailey Lamont finished in the top five of the women's mile. The three of them plus Cora Helman, Rylee Miller, Adelia Robitz, and Lauren Tooman each set PRs in the event. Brayden Shotwell, Caleb Beiswenger, Zack Hamacher, and Shane Lyons also set personal bests in the men's mile. Several competitors in the mile also set PRs in the 800m.

Grace Semow moved into seventh all-time in SU's record book for the women's 400m with a finishing time of 1:03.49. Mackenzie Plowman and Taylor McIntyre each set PRs in the event as well. For the men, Demorris Eubanks, Jaimir Bailey, and Brassfield set PRs in their 400m event.

Four Hornets set personal bests in the men's 3,000m as Will Ashley, Theo Beyer, Kyle Corpin, and Bryce Scholz all set PRs with Corpin finishing with the best time of the bunch.

UP NEXT

The Hornets head to Virginia Military Institute next Saturday for the VMI Winter Classic.
