Hornets Wrap Up Indoor Regular Season at Bridgewater Meet

PENN LAIRD, Va. - In the final push towards the ODAC Championships, the Shenandoah University indoor track and field programs headed to the Rockingham Collegiate Classic hosted by Bridgewater College at the Edward S. Long Jr. Track Complex on Friday.

Will Ashley won the men's 5,000m event with a time of 16:17.82 while teammates Zack Hamacher and Shane Lyons each placed inside the top five in the same event. All three runners set personal records with their performances.

In the men's 400m, Wyatt Newcome set the eighth-best time in program history with a 52.53-second finish. Jaimir Bailey also set a PR in the the 400m at 55.21 seconds.

Nathan Lee set two PRs, both in mid-distance events. In the 800m, Lee came in 10th with a mark of 2:05.04 while crossing the finish line at 4:43.59 in the mile, placing 16th.

For the women, Myah Powell-Utley moved into sixth all-time for the program in the 60m dash with a time of 8.47 seconds.

Taylor McIntyre and Megan Brophy set PRs in the women's 400m. McIntyre broke her previous best by over two seconds and Brophy improved her PR by just under a second. Finishing ahead of the two in the 400m was Kaitlyn Loy, who finished in 1:07.27. All three athletes were separated by 0.36 seconds.

Loy also placed 12th in the women's 200m with a performance of 28.81 seconds, which sets a new PR for the junior.

Other PRs for the Hornets during the day included Cora Helman in the women's 5,000m, Willie Holden in the men's triple jump, and Brayden Shotwell in the men's 3,000m.
