Two School Records Set at South Region Final Qualifier

WINCHESTER, Va. - Mackenzie Plowman and Makenna Thrush broke school records on Saturday as the Shenandoah University indoor track and field teams hosted the South Region Final Qualifier.

Plowman broke the school record in the women's 800m by 1.31 seconds after finishing in 2:21.00. Thrush took down the school record, which she held, in the women's one mile with a time of 5:05.32, while also winning the event.

Also during the women's one mile, Madeline Lotts finished third and set a new personal record at 5:18.39, which broke her previous best by nearly three seconds. The mark also puts her sixth all-time for the SU women.

In the women's 60m dash, Kaitlyn Loy and Myah Powell-Utley each set PRs with times of 8.58 and 8.44 seconds, respectively. Loy is now eighth all-time in the school record book, while Powell-Utley sits at sixth. Janelle Anderson advanced to the 60m dash finals with a time of 8.02 in the prelims. Anderson finished sixth in the finals at 8.04 seconds.

Nathan Lee won the men's 800m event with a time of 1:59.86, setting a new PR and placing him fifth all-time.

Ethan Harrower set a PR in the men's one mile. Harrower finished the race at 4:27.47, which is the third-best mark for the men all-time.

William Crowder finished second in the men's 60m dash finals, crossing the finish line in 6.86 seconds. Crowder ran a 6.93 in the prelims.

UP NEXT

This marks the end of the indoor season for the Hornets. SU begins its outdoor campaign on March 20th down in Conway, South Carolina.
