Track and Field Concludes Regular Season at Lynchburg Meet

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University outdoor track and field teams competed in the final day of the Dennis Craddock Invitational at the University of Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon. Throughout the two-day event, the Hornets set a combined 42 personal records.

The day started in the field as Zak McIntyre placed eighth in the men's hammer throw with a heave of 46.11m, which puts him sixth all-time for the Shenandoah men.

In the women's triple jump, Kaitlyn Loy hit 9.81m, which is the third longest mark for the women in program history.

Mekhi Mims had a spectacular day in the high jump, hitting 1.90m, giving him a new personal best after placing fourth in the event. The jump places him second in the SU record books. The field athlete also set a new PR in the discus.

Sticking with jumps, Willie Holden set a new PR in the men's triple jump with a mark of 11.85m. In the same event, Jaimir Bailey had the best finish for the Hornets, reaching 12.29m, which is 0.01m off of his PR. However, Bailey would go on to set a personal record in the 200m.

On the track, Janelle Anderson qualified for the women's 100m finals after running a 12.73 in the prelims. In the finals, Anderson improved her time by 0.12 seconds, placing seventh. The men's 100m prelims saw Demorris Eubanks set a new PR.

Kowen Brassfield set a PR in the men's 400m, finishing the race in 55.03 seconds, which is 0.53 seconds faster than his previous best.

Nine of the 11 Hornets to run in the women's 800m set personal bests. Makenna Thrush, Amy Olesky, Grace Semow, and Madeline Lotts are now sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth all-time, respectively, for the Hornets in the event.

Similarly, in the women's 200m, six of the eight SU student-athletes to compete in the event earned PRs.

In the men's 800m, Kyle Corpin earned his way into the SU top-10 with a finishing time of 2:00.63.

Taylor McIntyre competed in the women's 400m hurdles and set a new PR with a time of 1:14.48, which is now sixth all-time for the Hornets.

Shane Lyons and Bryce Scholz earned PRs in the 3,000m steeplechase while Noah Godfrey finished between the two runners in the race.

UP NEXT

The Hornets set their eyes on the ODAC Championships at Eastern Mennonite University in two weeks.
