Track and Field Competes at Day One of ODAC Championships

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Following the first day of the 2025 ODAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Eastern Mennonite University, the Shenandoah University men's and women's track and field teams each sit seventh in the standings.

Mekhi Mims tied the school record and tied for fourth in the men's high jump, reaching 1.90m for the Hornets. In the women's high jump, Katya Hoover hit 1.57m, which also gave her fourth in the event.

In the men's shot put, Grady Speer placed 11th and scored the 10th-best mark all-time for SU with a throw of 12.20m.

Ethan Harrower began the track events for SU in the 3,000m steeplechase, finishing at 10:00.26, placing fourth. Five Hornets ran in the event, including Bryce Scholz, who set a new PR.

Alexis Hubbard qualified for the women's 400m finals after finishing the prelims in 1:01.35. In the same event first year, Megan Brophy set a new PR.

William Crowder is set to run in the men's 100m finals tomorrow after completing today's event in 10.79 seconds, qualifying for the finals by 0.07 seconds.

In the men's 10,000m, Brayden Shotwell set the second-best all-time mark for the Horents with a time of 32:40.21, finishing ninth in the event. In the women's 10,000m, Maddy Chorney, Cora Helman, Sarah Lane, and Lauren Tooman all set new personal bests. Chorney had the best finish for the women, placing fifth with a time of 39:18.32, which puts her fourth all-time for the SU women.
